Text-Based Editing not working across sequences

New Here ,
Aug 10, 2025 Aug 10, 2025

Hello! Premiere Pro 2025, macOS Sonoma 14.4

I'm working on an eLearning project where the client provides ALL the courses in a long video. I make a sequence for each course, then cut the video based on that.

Everything is working fine until I switch sequences. Suddenly, I can't insert clips unless I completely restart the program. Anyone else having this issue?

Hi @ZeeDubyah,

Welcome to the Premiere Pro forums and thank you for reporting an issue. We need a few more details to help. What exact version of Premiere Pro are you on?

Could you provide a little more information about your workflow? Did you first make a transcription of the long video with all the courses and then started editing from that transcript into the separated sequences? Are you using any multicams or nests?

As @Stan Jones mentioned, a screen recording or screenshot could be very helpfu

@ZeeDubyah,

A screenshot might help. How are you trying to insert clips? Are you using the text-based editing method in some way?

Stan

Thanks for reaching out, Stan!

I'm using text-based editing. I'll highlight the section I want to use, then use the Insert function.

Everything works fine when I open the program. I can use the feature and complete that section. once I switch to the next sequence, the text-based editing won't work until I restart the program.

Hi @ZeeDubyah,

As @Stan Jones mentioned, a screen recording or screenshot could be very helpful to better understand the workflow and sources so we can try to replicate the problem.

Sorry for the frustration and hope we can help you soon!
