Text Based Editing Not Working

New Here ,
Oct 08, 2025 Oct 08, 2025

When I import my footage into premier pro, I have it so it automatically transcribes dialouge for text based editing. When working in the bins, I typically cut up the footage into usable parts and organize it into other bins. Text based editing works flawlessly here everytime.

The issue: when I drag the clips into a timeline, the transcript for text based editing no longer appears in the text panel OR its super wonky, i.e. when I select text to delete it isnt synced up and deletes the wrong section or just deletes then text and doesnt effect the timeline. In my current project, its the first issue were the transcript isnt pulling into the timeline. Re-transcribe is blurred out too which makes me think this could be a settings error? Anybody getting the same issue?

Are you using subclips? That could be the source of the issues you're seeing. Subclips can sometimes behave unpredictably with text-based editing features in Premiere Pro.

@defaultgmnz3e5gfcoz,

Sorry you did not get a response sooner on this one.

There is an outstanding bug related to transcripts in duplicated sequences, but may affect other situations as well. It is fixed in the Beta.

Here are links to my replication of the problem and a workaround (reopen the project resyncs the transcripts):

@PaulMurphy,

The original poster in that thread was not using duplicated sequences. So the jury is out on whether some other issue is at work. Subclips might be one.

Stan
