The Grid Effect slows everything down

The ONLY time Premiere Pro becomes laggy is when I try to apply a grid effect. I am trying to create a "tv channel flip effect" in which I add an adjustment layer, noise effect, grid effect, etc. I will find another way to achieve this effect, but is this my fault? Or Adobe's fault?

I know it is the Grid Effect, because NO other effect does this, it never lags otherwise, I've restarted the program many times, etc.

are you on software only or GPU accelerated rendering?

is your graphics card updated to the latest Studio driver?

try to export your grid effect alone as QuickTime with alpha channel,

then you can reuse it accross your timeline and other projects.

GPU accelerated, all up to date drivers

I will try to do as you suggested - but wouldn't I then not be able to change the dimensions of the grid effect?

Grid effect is obsolete and non GPU accelerated, hence the slow render.

Yes, it's in the Obsolete folder.

Look to After Effects for this.
