Thoughts on UHD laptop screens?

About to pull the trigger on a 17" Thinkpad P73.  I've edited for years on a Macbook 2012 Retina, with its 2880x1800 screen.  There are times I wish I had more screen real estate (doesn't everyone) hence the larger 17" screen -- but if I get a 1920x1080 screen, I'll be worse off than before, even if it's a larger screen.  But I hear people say a 4k screen is a waste on anything smaller than, say, a 24" monitor, and some people have apparently had problems with the UI scaling on Premiere.  I'd love to be able to cram a few more tracks into my timeline window, if not running the screen at 3840x2160 then something smaller (back to 2880x1800?) but don't know if the UI will scale properly or if that's still an issue.

Would love any input anyone might have.  I'm leaning towards spending the extra for the UHD screen (it's not that much, and it's OLED) but if I'm headed for trouble, would love to be pulled back from the edge.

I think it's way too small. I'm running 32" monitor at 2560x1440 at the recommended 100% scaling. It's just right. Your icons and other UI features will be too small for you, then you'll turn the scaling up, which is a little bit worse (performance / compatibility) than getting a monitor with lower resolution and running it at 100%.

    I have a 27" 4k screen and love it.

No issues with scaling as long as you stick to the recommendation for the display.
