Thumbnails in Project Bin is KILLING ME!

I tend to work on large projects.  For Example, have a documentary based project, multiple video deliverables, etc that has 690 items in a bin.

That many shoots, etc.  AND I need to see the thumbnails to know what shots I want to grab but PPR takes FOREVER to load the thumbnails each time. I'll go into assembly mode and patiently scroll to get each thumbnail, and then I'll change the view (to color correct say) and then all the thumbnails are gone again.  Super f*&king frustrating. It is killing my efficiency.  I've seen a bunch of people talking about this, has there been any solution?

Seriously, I'm thinking of switching to Resolve just to deal with this problem.

P.S. Neil

There are quite a few really nice people, like you, who contribute here and actually DO SOLVE problems people are having. Like that recent 'mercury playback' post you made the other day. You helped that person enormously !  Thank YOU !

I look forward to you continuing to do that stuff.

And you help quite well also, Rodney. In general, this is a pretty decent place.

I'm not real fond of being called ignorant. But it's better than being called " stupid ". Thanks !

hehe... I'm glad you said basically what I've been saying all along.. about the tools to use for what works for YOU.

Thank you !

Open the Project panel in a floating (undocked) panel or put on a second monitor. Very simple.

Thanks for the suggestion R.Neal.

While I see the utility in doing that, it still doesn't solve the problem of PPR still having to rebuild the thumbnails every time you say, close and open the project, or change the window layout.

I can understand thumbs taking a bit on closing/opening the program to a certain extent.

But taking so long when you're just changing the workspaces does get very annoying IMMEDIATELY.

Which is why I "float" the Project panel. And you have to set this in all workspaces too. Then changing workspaces doesn't matter. It will even remember which bin was open in which workspace, and when you go back to that workspace, that bin is still open. Thumbnails up.

IF you have a bin opened and all thumbs 'up' in one workspace, and you switch to another with a different bin, but select the bin that is already up in another workspace, the thumbs pop up instantly. Sweet.

So ... it's a workaround, but hey ... for a lot of 'answers' here, what gets ya working is the most valuable answer.
