I recently needed to do a complete reinstall of Creative Cloud due to some weird permissions issues. Everything's fine, except now Time Warp is missing in Premiere Pro. No big deal, I can just use after effects, but is there a way to get it back into Premiere?
Just checking that you know that selecting a clip in a sequence, right click it and select Speed/Duration, change the speed to what you want and then select the drop down menu under 'Time Interpolation' and choose 'Optical Flow' will achieve the same result as 'Timewarp'.

Timewarp has left the building a long time ago.
You might have activated via the <mod note: comment removed>.
Dont think its in 2018 anymore.

I don't recall it ever being included with PP. Wasn't this always a hack that eventually got released as the Optical Flow feature?

Afaik CS4 was the last version that had Time Warp.

okay. I never saw it in Premiere until like a month ago. Might have been a weird install or something. I liked it. Nothing fakes slow motion like Time Warp.

Optical Flow essentially is Time Warp.

That's odd, I remember being pleasantly surprised to see it in Premiere recently. I used it pretty heavily until it went away after this fresh install.

Hi Enzo,
Sorry about this.
Hey, how im supposed to Activate the timewarp effect in PrPr 2022 plz ? TY
You cannot. It's not listed in supported effects according to the User Guide. This effect should be considered obsolete by you and others, unless the team officially releases it. They have not done so yet.
Sorry for the frustration. Roll back to an earlier version if you truly need it. Otherwise, simply use Optical Flow.
Thanks,
Kevin

Time Warp has been retired for a long time now.
The effect has been, accidentally, turned on in some builds of Premiere (according to an Adobe engineer)
Hence, you are seeing tutorials about the effect.
Time Warp has been replaced by Optical Flow.

It has been in all versions of premiere up until now it seems. You had to activate it via <mod note: comment removed> but the option is no longer there.

It's morphed into the Optical Flow time interpolation method.

Optical flow time interpolation has always been available though, and doesn't achieve the same result as time warp did unfortunately.

Optical Flow is fairly recent. 2017 I believe. The results may have changed as the underlying code changed.

Timewarp exists in Premiere Pro CC 2018. I just used it a few days ago on a brand new machine (fresh install). I am gobsmacked a ACP doesn't know this! It also didn't have to be "hacked" or activated via <mode note: comment removed>. It was a simple search.

Maybe this non-ACP can find the effect in my version.

Fine, a lowly Non-ACP will tell you how to get TimeWarp working and what happened.
12.0.0 was the last working version of TimeWarp.
Between your reinstall, I am guessing the 12.0.1 came out.
It may have not ghosted to your set up as it did mine.
If you want to use timewarp, you'll need to reinstall 12.0.0 from you account.
That little chevron > Other versions > 12.0.0
Then simply search "Time"
I hope that solves your problem.

Ok it is what a thought it was: a bug.
It mistakenly appears on the Mac not windows.
It wont be available in future builds.

thanks! I'll give optical flow a shot and if it achieves the same effect I'll just go with it, otherwise, I'll install 12.0.0

You can always file a feature request for the Time Warp effect.

Mod note: updated feature request link.

I recently updated to 12.1.2. I mean <expletive removed>? Why did they remove it again? I remember this happening years ago, then it came back. Now it's gone again. Optical flow is nowhere near as good as timewarp.
Yes I know I should shoot like 60-120 fps, but I'm not shooting, I'm just editing and the material is just handed to me.
Yes I know I can still use timewarp in AE, but if I right-click the clip, select "Replace with After Effects...", add just timewarp and nothing else to the clip, it plays back from the wrong location. It was so much simpler and faster to add timewarp to a clip in Premiere.
This is making me furious to revert to older versions to get something essential back.
Please Adobe, bring timewarp back now, thank you. Yes I've voted for that in the feature requests.

Hello EN_CreativeServices,
Thanks for your note. I realize that this is an older thread and I hope you were able to solve your issue with Optical Flow and Speed Effects.
I can just use after effects, but is there a way to get it back into Premiere?
No, this is an effect that has not been available since Premiere Pro CS4. Sorry. You can certainly upvote this popular feature request here: https://adobe-video.uservoice.com/forums/911233-premiere-pro/suggestions/34161610-time-warp
Note: please do not share the use or how to enable any undocumented features here in the community. I have to remove such comments by request from the product team.

Kevin

I have Adobe Premiere Pro 2022 through my college. I am trying to add the Timewarp effect by going to Effects -> Video Effects -> Time -> Timewarp.
I saw this in a YouTube video that was posted 3 weeks ago and everyone in the comments is saying that it works but I cannot see the Timewarp effect. I have updated Premiere Pro to the latest version.
Does anybody know why it doesn't show up and how I can get it to show?

I checked my Adobe Premiere Pro 2022 and I don' have the Timewarp effect. Investigating this further, I found the thread below. From what's discussed there, the effect was in the 2018 version of Premiere Pro but has been discontinued so is no longer included in later versions of the product.
