Timeline markers are not getting exported as comments on Frame.io

Issue - The markers (comments) marked on the timeline in Premiere Pro are not getting uploaded as comments on Frame.io

Adobe Premiere Pro version number - v23.3.0 Build 61

Operating system - Windows 10 64-bit (22H2)

System Info:

CPU - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz

GPU and Driver version - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (Studio driver version - 531.61)

RAM - 32.0GB Dual-Channel DDR4 @ 1200MHz (17-17-17-39)

Hard Drive(s) - 931GB Crucial CT1000MX500SSD4 (SATA (SSD))   --OS SSD, software installed here.                                                                                                                       Footage/source is present here.
931GB Hitachi HGST HTS721010A9E630 (SATA)    --HDD (other storage)
931GB Samsung PSSD T7 USB Device (USB (SATA) (SSD))
--external SSD for previews                                                                                                                                connected via USB Type-C

Video format - MP4 H.264 (1920x1080)

Workflow details - A basic sequence with stock footage, music, some sfx, and auto-generated captions.

Steps to reproduce -

(Pre-requisite - Ensure that the sequence timeline has a few markers/comments before proceeding.)

1. Log into Frame.io through Premiere Pro.

2. Go to Upload -> Active sequence -> Ensure settings are as per the attached image.

(ImportantMake sure to enable the check mark for - "Export markers as comments")

3. Wait for the export from Media Encoder (v23.3 Build 57) and the upload to finish on Frame.io

4. Notice the error.

Expected result - The upload should be successful without any errors and with the markers/comments added to the Frame.io file upload.

Actual result - The upload on Frame.io ends with the error for comments (image attached). As a result, the comments are not getting added for another person to review.

Comments do work if you add them directly on Frame.io AFTER the export is done.

But the functionality of automatically 'exporting markers as comments' should work properly and should be error-free. It's a crucial feature of the feedback mechanism with Frame.io integration with Premiere Pro.

I guess this was never fixed, Adobe is to busy making more problems with sparkles and star dust,

Not working for me either, unfortunately (not just wrong timestamps, but no comments showing up despite the markers being present in Premiere).

Other parts of the synchronisation seem to work, so I can create new comments in Premiere and/or frame.io after the upload has already happened and they will show up on the other side. But existing markers within Premiere are not being converted to frame.io comments as hoped.

Very frustrating. Seems like such a simple thing to include. Absolutely necessary!

Seen this wrong time stamp behavior myself, thought it was the client who had read the time stamps wrong... Seems like the real reason was Premiere Pro, not my client

Well I got the markers to upload but they are not at the correct timestamps so..completely useless. Why market this feature if it doesn't work? Extremely frustrating

I'm having this same issue on 24.6 (build 6).  I have a bunch of markers with only titles.  I don't have the time to go through and add the titles to the comment section instead.  This is not a good solution. Anybody got a better one?

Hi, @Kevin-Monahan

Don't remember if I have posted about it... Well, The markers are exported to the frame.io only if you add anything in the comment section. So if I have a marker named "a text here" for my client to know where he will see some text, I have to copy this "a text here" to the comment section as well, otherwise the comment is not shown in the frame.io. Can this be fixed? I understand the logic - the comment is transferred to the frame.io, not the comment title, but can  you fix it with a simple " A, else B" solution? This would be great.

One thing which IS a bug - Premiere Pro always adds something like hex-code to the title of every marker if they are exported TO (not from!) the frame.io for review.

Looks like this:

I emailed the frame.io team about it, but it seems Premiere Pro does that, not the plugin.

Well, it's Premiere Pro 24.5 and the markers exported to Frame.io are still not seen there... Great.

Thanks, @Bobby Boson copying the marker titles to the marker Comment sections actually worked. The only problem - you have to do it manually which is bad if you have 50+ markers... I also erased that hex-rubbish which you discussed in this topic, that appeared in the title after I'd exported my sequence for review into the frame.io

I've been having the same issue. In my case, I just wanted to mark certain points for clients to view. (We had already spoken on the phone and it was just a simple matter of "can you mark the points you want me to review?" So I didn't think I needed to fill in any notes or names or what have you.) I added the markers to the sequence, left the names and comments blank, uploaded. But nothing showed up in frame. It just showed zero comments and premiere gave an error message.

I added a marker name. As already mentioned, the marker name gets replaced with a code, similar to a hex code, but these markers don't appear in frame. Whatever you put in the Comments box shows up as the comment in frame. So in my case, I left the maker names blank and just filled in the comments section with the word "marker" for all of them and, boom, they all showed up in frame.

Hope this helps.
