Transcription queries

Hi fellow prem Pro users, I've been getting to know the transcription & captions functionality of Prem Pro & have a few outstanding queries :

Generating

  • does transcription generate a physical & distinct file, like a render file? eg that can be found in a folder in my file directory?
  • It seems quicker to transcribe one source clip at a time compared to a batch transcribe. Anyone else found that?
  • Transcripts of people speaking in English (but it's not their first language so they pause & repeat words a lot) have a lot of unnecessary commas & many times don't start a new sentence with a capital. Can the AI be expected to get better on this?

correcting

  • I understand how to split a segment of transcript but how can I join 2 segments, when for instance the 2nd segment on has one word...? I can't copy & paste from the 2nd to the first segment as it doesn't carry across the associated source TC.
  • if I change the transcript of a source clip that is used in a sequence, then that text change should be reflected in the transcript of the sequence. Correct?
  • That text change however won't reflect in the captions for that sequence. Correct?
  • The text change needs to be manually done for the caption. Correct?

exporting

  • sometimes the text under the timecode is narrow & sometimes it runs across the page. Why the difference? The wider version includes the Speaker name, the narrow one doesn't.

Any thoughts on the above would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Here are some answers to your questions:

The transcription process does not generate a file outside of Premiere. However, you can export the transcript as a text, CSV, or .prtranscript file.

You can only combine segments in the Source Monitor. To do this, select the text in two segments and click the Merge Segment button.

Changing text in the transcript of a source clip will be reflected in a sequence transcript, unless the sequence transcript is a static transcript.

Transcripts and captions are not linked, so changes in one will not be reflected in the other.
