Trouble animating on a speed ramped video.

I'm making a video with some speed ramping and trying to add a transition to the end of the clip. For some reason, I can't add any transitions to the end of the clip. I tried animating the opacity instead so the video could fade out, but the keyframes aren't working. I have no clue what is going on.

Try resetting preferences.

You nest the clip that has the speedramp then add the transition to that nest.

Time remapping does not go well with other keyframed properties in the Effect Controls.

I thought you needed multiple clips to make a nested sequence. Can you create a nested sequence out of one clip?

Yes, and that is needed very often for complex work. It solves processing order conflicts.
