I've just had a nice chat with one of the online help staff, and after explaining about Adobe Premiere Pro not having an actual full screen mode, I was pretty much told that it'll be incorporated into the next release, i.e., it's not currently a feature in the latest version at this time... version: 22.2.0 (Build 128).
For anyone interested, my question to them is copied below:
"I'm using Premiere Pro 2022 and Full Screen mode ("Ctrl" + "\") doesn't hide the taskbar (neither does it for version 2021). I'm aware of the Windows setting to auto-hide the taskbar, but I don't like that! True Full Screen modes do indeed hide the taskbar... therefore please let me know if Premiere Pro has a Full Screen mode/setting that will hide the taskbar? Incidentally, ("`") or ("Ctrl" + "`") that work for maximising panel sizes are Not! what I mean by Full Screen mode whereby the taskbar becomes hidden. Thank you kindly, Gary."
In response to my question, they quickly investigated and confirmed that there isn't currently an option/setting for hiding the taskbar as should be the case for a True Full Screen Mode feature, and then when I asked if it was due to technical difficulties, they confirmed that it wasn't... so fingers crossed since I rather dislike using Windows Auto Hide taskbar feature.

Thank you Ann.
I've posted it here: TRUE Full Screen Mode... which hides the taskbar! – Adobe video & audio apps (uservoice.com)

Hi Gary,
Hope that feature happens for you soon. Can you check out the Beta to see if it is working as you might expect? Let us know, OK?
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
In my optimism that you've already had a chance to do something... I've just created a new project in: Version 22.3.0 BETA (Build 64) that I just now downloaded. ("Ctrl" + "\") is still the same, i.e., the taskbar is still visible. If instead you've added a True Full Screen feature via a different keyboard shortcut combination, then please let me know which keys? Otherwise, I guess you mean some future Beta version, in which case please kindly post here and state how to test the new True Full Screen mode once it's available.
Cheers, Gary.

Hi Kevin,
Ahhh... that Beta version 22.3.0 BETA (Build 64) does now indeed go full screen for ("Ctrl" + "`") but that's for Playback. ("Ctrl" + "\") is the option which currently only hides the title bar when Working/Editing, which I'm guessing will be expected by many to be a True Full Screen mode that hides the taskbar.
In other words, simply the ability to Work/Edit with the taskbar hidden... not just for playback preview.
Cheers, Gary.

The biggest problem is that Ctrl+\ is not even available on many keyboards. I use a standard keyboard with a swedish/nordic layout and the \-key is not a native key as it is on US/UK keyboard. It cannot be changed in the Keyboard Shortcuts dialog since the shortcut is hard coded in the app.
Yes, i can change the keyboard layout and use the on screen keyboard and then switch back again, but why is not the shortcut mapable in the Keyboard Shortcut dialog?

I appreciate there are different keyboard layouts, but to be able to switch into True Full Screen, as a feature, is what I'm hoping for, regardless of the default keyboard layout.
"Ctrl" + "\" (or equivalent depending on the keyboard) already acts as a Partial! full screen mode... so I'm simply hoping for that to be modified to make it a true full screen mode by hiding the task bar.
Additionally, if some people prefer the current behaviour of only hiding the title bar, then a simple on/off setting to either only hide the title bar, or also hide the taskbar, simply by still using "Ctrl" + "\" or equivalent, is an easy solution.

It's always interesting to see different people's reactions to things. I've used auto-hide of the taskbar since it was an option way, way back. I cannot imagine why you would want the taskbar NOT auto-hid with any app.
To each their own ...

Like you say it's just personal preference.
Some examples of programs that I already use that have a True Full Screen mode whilst working/editing as usual are: Visual Studio, Segger Embedded Studio, Corel Photo-Paint, GIMP, Blender...

@Gary... you're now also using the OBS video/streaming software to record via a Razer Kiyo Pro, and both the camera and OBS are Awesome! And... OBS has a: True Fullscreen Mode/Interface!

I'm curious though about why auto-hiding the taskbar is annoying to you. Just curious, as I love to understand how different people view things. As everyone's mileage always varies ...

Curious is good!
Having said all that, I do like the taskbar hidden when I'm doing certain tasks, mainly graphics editing things like Blender and Corel Photo-Paint, and now Premiere, and also After Effects which I've managed to squeeze into this old PC that I'm still using for a while.
If a True Full Screen mode does get added to Premiere, then I hope it'll also turn out to be a more general decision and therefore also get added to After Effects. If it doesn't get added then I'll probably just try harder to get used to auto hiding the taskbar.
Obviously none of this is a big deal in anyway, but if it's something the developers can achieve very easily (although I'm not assuming it is), then I can't think of a reason to not add it, unless I'm the only one that wants it.
Putting new feature requests to the vote sounds good to me.
Cheers! Gary.

Hey, thanks for the post! As said, I'm always curious. All of us do everything differently, and I've learned a ton over many years by simply listening to how others work ... and then trying to understand the reasoning behind their processes. Seeing if there's something I haven't thought of, and should know.
The clock I totally get. But a lot of what I do is color work & testing, so ... I'm in a dark gray room with subdued 6500K lighting, a bias light behind my reference monitor, and ... I need a light/white/neutral object to flick my eyes to now & then to reset their color recognition.
So ... I have a white analog clock, a circular one, with both a white surround and a white face behind the black arms to check time and to reset my eyes.
For you, using the task bar makes sense. I know of another person who uses the task bar much as you do, and they finally decided to put it on their second monitor not the main one. As that's where Premiere panels are set, Pr doesn't use that one full screen ... and it works well for them. Different strokes, right?
