Question

Unsupported format or damaged file with BRAW files since updating to Blackmagic camera 7.3

Adobe Premiere used to support the Blackmagic files fine until I updated my Blackmagic camera to the new 7.3 with Gen 5 software. Now when I import the BRAW file it shows "unsupported format or a damaged file error". I updated the Blackmagic Raw Player to 2.1 and still not working. Davinci Resolve reads the files fine but not Adobe Premiere. Anyone else come across this problem? Am I missing something? Do I also have to manually update a BRAW plugin for Premiere Pro? I couldn't find anything online other than old articles that Premiere now supports BRAW.

I am using Mac OSX 11.4 (Intel)

Adobe Premiere 15.2

Blackmagic Raw 2.1

You may need both the more recent BlackMagic RAW player and an updated plugin.

I'm not familiar anymore with the BM plugin as that thing is so freaking prone to breaking. I paid for the Autokroma plugin which just works ... and gives more options anyway.

Curious ... do you have any M4/3 lenses in use on that BM camera? And are they focusing properly, and peaking working well? Some BM users have had issues with the focus of some lenses not working and with peaking being faint. The newest update seems better, but ... just curious.

Hi there,

We checked the file with the latest Blackmagic RAW 2.1 & it imported properly. Would you mind downloading the latest Blackmagic RAW update that was released yesterday & check if it's working properly?

Thanks,
Sumeet

OK so I installed the newly released Blackmagic RAW 2.1 update and it is now able to import inside Premiere Pro. However, a new error displays in red at the bottom right inside Premiere Pro when I import a BM Raw file with 7.3 color science. The error says that I need Premiere Pro version 15.4 in order to use BM Raw files. I have version 15.2.0 and it shows as updated to the latest version from my Creative Cloud Desktop app. I am still able to play the Raw file though. Not sure why the error now appears and how am I able to get Premiere Pro version 15.4?

Was there a fix for this because I'm having this exact same issue.

for something like this keep in mind... it's just format and compatibility that matters.. so turning on camera and pointing it at something for 3 seconds and sending THAT file in dropbox is all you need to do and then people don't have to wait 2 hours for a 3.8 gb file to download.

Hi prod1200,

We're sorry to hear about this. We would like to get the file checked. If possible, please share a download link for the sample media with which you are experiencing this issue? Also, let us know the Blackmagic camera that was used to capture the media & if the media was captured using Generation 5 color science.

Thanks,

Sumeet
