V24 Proxy Bugs | High FPS Footage

Whenever I attempt to Proxy any video above 30fps like my screen recordings, the playback is dropping frames and freezing frames. Why is that?

I've done most of the work-arounds, I even interpolated the footage to its own FPS or even the FPS I set my custom sequence to for a screen recording done on Mac. However, I edit the content in Windows.

Is there some secret method I'm missing?

    48.73 ... um, that's not a normal framerate. When you see an odd one like that, it almost always means the file is VFR ... variable frame rate.

     

    Drag/drop a clip onto the desktop icon for MediaInfo (free utility app) ... and then go to the "Tree view" in that app ... and see what it lists for framerate. Betting it's gonna say framerate mode is variable, list that as the supposed framerate, but also list a pair of numbers ... min and max ... framerates.

     

    You would probably need to convert that media to CFR ... constant framerate ... to get Premiere to both work well with it and to make proper proxies.

     

    ShutterEncoder in general is my preferred utility for this, but they recently did something that is annoying. Their old UI had an option in the codec choice dialog for DFR/VFR. Easy to see and set.

     

    The new UI ... you have to go into the "preferences" or settings menu, the gear icon upper left, scroll down and there's an option for "mode" or something like that which shows CFR and VFR options. Set that to CFR.

      No speed changes. The original FPS is, 48.73.

      What is the original framerate of the media? Are you doing any speed changes of the original media?
