Since I've upgraded to version 23.1, virtually everything is significantly slower. This includes simple things like scrubbing through a clip on the timeline as well as more complex things like exporting. Also, the Dip To White effect has changed and no longer works as it used to - was that intentional? And will it be changing back or at least renamed as it no longer dips to white?
I am running a Mac with the Apple M1 Pro chip, have 32GB of memory and Ventura 13.0.1. Nothing changed on my computer that I am aware of besides the upgrade to 23.1 of Premier Pro.
Please let me know if the performance of Premier Pro will be corrected so at least it's no slower than it was before version 23.1 - and if the Dip To White effect will be changed.
Thanks!

Sorry about that, HootieGPop,
Some users are having a lot of trouble with v.23.1. Can you try 23.0 instead? Let us know how it goes. The team is working on a fix right now.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hey Kevin.
Thanks for the reply and the suggestion. Reverting to a previous version isn't that simple for us. We're using the team function and have already saved the project under 23.1. If we downgrade to 23.0, we get messages saying we can't open the project. Any suggestions for a work around when the project has already been saved under a newer version of PP?
Thanks!

Its for years like this!!!YEARS and we're getting close to a decade! Adobe we are paying for what exactly?
Also i discovered since they have that useless desktop application "CreativeCloud" it slows down any system significantly if you have the cloud sync on! Adobe please update Premiere to 21. century!!! Any editor is much faster editing 4k material on my bloody iPhone than Adobe Premiere on a 22 Macbook Pro M1 Pro😳

Personally, I have already bought this month davinci's speed editor with the attached software.
If adobe doesn't come out with a really optimized version in this month I'm going to delete everything. I'm going to crack it because I have various plug in for it like neat video and some projects /workflow for some content/clients that ny now need to stay on premiere. But I say this publicly, a cracked 2022 version that working for what I need to do will be more than sufficient. I better feel too that I am paying for cosmic nothingness. That is until I totally migrate to davinci, which will take me some time after so many years of premiere but is the road that every filmmaker need to fo. The whole thing is outrageous.

Thanks for the reply, Kevin. I hope the update happens sooner than later. The slow responsive timeline is a real bummer. Making the editing process feel like a chore for a lot of us, by the sounds of it!

Hey Kevin.
You mentioned you're working on a fix. Can I get a timeline for when that's expected to be available?
Thanks!

I went back to 23.0 and it fixed the problem for me on my 2017 IMac Pro, 3.2 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon W, Radeon Pro Vega 56 8 GB, 32 GB 2666 MHz DDR4

I'm with you my friend. I have a practically brand new Mac Studio with 128 of RAM and the M1 Ultra chip. My Premiere Pro is acting like I'm running on 1GB of RAM. Hopefully it gets fixed because before it was so effortless and easy to go through my 4K footage!

I also so had to go back to 23.0 I'm on a windows system and have the same issues. Extreme lags in the timeline when moving layers, keyframes, etc. Totally unusable. I'm runinng on win 11, i9, 64gb ram and RTX 3090.

I have had similar issues specifically with the lag on playback.
Luckily this solution worked for me. link for the thread: https://community.adobe.com/t5/premiere-pro-discussions/huge-performance-and-lag-issues-with-premier...

What is going on?
We are two months into version 23.1 and they still haven't updated anything? Adobe seriously wants its users to crack the software as they gradually switch to davinci

PP 23.2 is still struggling with multicam editing. 23.0 worked well with 3 streams of 4K footage. 23.2 is hanging, crashing, and struggling with 2 streams of 1080/60. After a few camera changes the system will play back smoothly, but the playhead and audio meters start to jutter and freeze, and changing the active camera can take 1-5 seconds (foricing each edit to be manaully adjusted). After 20 or so camera changes PP continues to playback smoothly, but the interface freezes. I will play video smoothly for 30+ minutes while the program is unresponsive.
I have emptied the cache, reset preferences, disabled audio input, and none of these have made a difference. This project uses only about 40% of CPU/GPU resources, so it is not a system peformance issue.
Restarting PP solves the issue for the first few camera cuts, then the entire process repeats.

As a test I just installed PP 22.6.4 and multi-cam works without issues. Fortunately I was able to split the project and not lose a lot of work.
This is the absolutely maddening part about CC- these programs are made for professionals, yet time after time a major function is broken with a new update, and there is no public admission by Adobe that they broke their own SW. These bugs don't cost Adobe, but they cost us users hours or days of lost productivity and troubleshooting, only to find out there was nothing the customer could have done.
