How is Premiere 2024 "5x faster"? For me, it's exactly as slow and laggy as before. Am I the only one?

No, is that required to see the difference?

The release notes say “5x faster timeline drawing” so that seems to limit the scope of where we should expect a speedup. If timeline responsiveness does not seem faster to you, that would be a problem. But it looks like they did not set the expectation that the rest of the application might be 5x faster. (Of course, it’s possible that some marketing statements or reviews might have spoken too loosely about what’s faster.)

A file that I render with minor updates each week normally takes about 4-5 minutes to render. Right now Premiere is saying there are 47 minutes left, and I think it's probably right.
So glad I updated to the new version last week....

Hi Thorn,
You said "A file that I render with minor updates each week normally takes about 4-5 minutes to render. Right now Premiere is saying there are 47 minutes left, and I think it's probably right."
SO are you are saying that update 24 is taking longer to render since it went from 5-minutes to 47-minutes for the same file?
Thanks,
Dwight

Yes, exactly that.
The problem was resolved by turning off FAUX BOLD in the text layer. I don't believe I ever even turned it on in the first place, but anyway.

Some users are getting very fast performance. I know of some on Macs, especially Mac books, that ... after changing some security or something settings, have been blown away by the speed of processing they're getting.
It's certainly working great on my 24 core/128GB - RAM Ryzen rig, and I've only got a 2080Ti on in at this time.
But some are getting issues, no question. On Macs, it seems there are some settings things that can make a world of difference, but I don't know what those would be to check. Over on the Facebook Premiere Pro editors group, several have posted things they've done that got them a boost.
But clearly, not all systems and workflows are getting boosted ...
