video editing: the option key

Somehow, I've managed to change a setting so that when i select a clip on the timeline, I'm not moving or extending the audio and video together anymore.  If I press the Option button while selecting a piece of audio or video, then all of the associated media on the timeline will also highlight.  Any ideas as to where I may have accidentally altered this function so I can change it back?
