Video Pauses itself whenever I extend, Shorten, or cut on the timeline

Normally, I have Adobe Premiere set to continue playing as I make edits to videos on the timeline. However, Recently it has been acting strangely.

Whenever I make a cut, extend a clip, shorten a clip, add a simple effect, or even move an audio or video clip on the timeline, the video pauses. Not as in it freezes. Anytime I try to make an edit while the video is playing, it acts like I've pressed the pause button, when this is certainly not the case.

It has been very frustrating to try and get accustomed to, and now, after not having any luck searching for an answer on my own, I would really just like to know why this happened so it won't happen again.

I've already tried restarting Adobe, as well as my entire PC, but no luck.

Also, it's unrelated, but i have another issue, where whenever I make a text box, sometimes it ignores my keystrokes and treats it as if im using the shortcuts attached to each key. And sometimes it won't even let me type in it at all!

Please Help!

First I would try it in a new project with a new media file. If it doesnt work there, I would try trashing your prefs.
