Question

Video rotated automatically when inserting

I am inserting a file into a sequence that is 1920*1080

The file resolution is: 2048*858

When I drag an drop it in the sequence, it comes rotated automatically 90 degrees clockwise.

I check the effects control tab, nothing is there

Very strange issue. The only difference Premiere shows is below, under video info, 2018 (which displays it the clip rotated and flipped) shows 858x2048 instead of 2048x858.

This can't just be an Adobe issue, however, as the file appears flipped in VLC as well. I inspected the QuickTime atom and nothing appears out of the ordinary so I'm not sure where this is coming from.

It has to do with interpreting the Arri Meta data correctly. an image that is shot with out the image flipped setting has the following:

com.arri.camera.ImageOrientation : 0

When a steadicam op underlings the camera they use the flipped sensor flag so the playback can see a correct image. When this happens the metadata has the following:

com.arri.camera.ImageOrientation : 9

CC2017 interpreted this correctly and CC 2018 does not.

No ... it's in MediaInfo, you can view the information in quite a few different formats ... it's their Tree view. As below ... just ignore the red marks, they were to highlight something for another user.

It looks like you have Rotation there in the ECP ... Motion, under it Position, Scale, a line or two break for a control, then Rotation ... ?

Everyone's mileage always varies ...

Change the rotation so it is properly oriented.
