Question

Vivitar 988 360 video won't import

Hey everyone,

Got a brand spankin' new Vivitar 360 camera, DVR 988HD. Anybody else have this camera? I updated Premiere, then updated my graphics card drivers as well (I've never worked with 360 video before) and cleared the cache as per other discussions. When I import any 4K 360 video, Premiere only loads the audio. It's as if it's an audio file, not a video file. I tried shortening one of the clips in Vivitar's 360 player editor and then saving that file using the 360 player's editing feature, but Premiere will not recognize the rerendered video as video either.

Windows 7 OS on custom built PC with NVidia GeForce GTX960 graphics card and using Creative Cloud with the downloaded this morning Premiere 2018 CC

Suggestions?

TIA,

Ian

HI Ian,

Sorry for the trouble. What is the exact dot version of Premiere Pro? Steps: FAQ: How to find the exact version of Premiere Pro you're using?

Just for a test, install a previous version of Premiere Pro & check the issue status. Steps: Install previous version of your Creative Cloud app

Let us know the status.

Thanks,

Vidya

Hi Vidya,

Thanks for the help. The version is Adobe Premiere Pro CC 12.1.1, downloaded yesterday. Just so you know, I was trying to import into an older version first. I don't know which version exactly, it was about a year old as I hadn't updated because I didn't need to.  The symptoms were exactly the same both times. So I tried importing into a previous version first, which had this problem of importing only the audio so I updated to 12.1.1 thinking that might solve the problem. The problem persisted and was exactly the same in behaviour.

Thanks!

Ian

Hi IanJ,

Still having trouble? Let us know.

Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Yes, I sent a sample clip to Vidya as he requested. I was assuming they were simply working on it and looking at it. In the meantime, I did try to open the file in Power Director as well, to no avail.  It just flat out says it can't open it.
