Voiceover drops pitch of my voice

I am working on a sequence and have done several voiceovers with no problem.  Suddenly now when I record, it drops the pitch of my voice, and naturally it sounds strange/weird/awful.  My audio settings have remained the same throughout.  I could really use some help.  I'm on a windows machine, version 2021 of PP.

I've closed and reopened the project, and rebooted my machine.

Problems like this are kind of hard to diagnose over a user to use or form like this, but this is most likely a problem with how your audio hardware is set up. Specifically, the sample rate that you have your various audio devices set to.

You will want to open your Windows Settings, and set the device that you are using for recording and playback in Premiere to the same sample rate.  Look under Format and set any audio device to a sample rate of 48000 Hz.

Check your Windows sound settings, that's a nice place for a 'global setting'

Yes, it's like this for every project (which is why I don't understand why a global setting won't fix it.)

Does the problem persist on a new sequence? Or with a new project?

I suppose I could record in some other program and drop it in for a quick fix, but for uniformity, I'd like to do it in PP.
