WAV files too short to import?

Currently trying to import a small WAV file that consists of a short "pop" sound effect. It's seemingly less than a second in length and plays perfectly when I play it on Finder, but Premiere refuses to let me drag it to the timeline. A fellow sound file I downloaded from the same source that plays for a second or two longer is added in fine, so what's going on? Is it just too short for Premiere to handle? How can I fix this?

Are you zoomed too far out in the timeline? Could be so small you don't see it.

At first that's what I assumed, but the cursor becomes a crossed-out circle when I try to apply it, Premiere physically will not let me

Might want to get a larger screen, so you can edit properly.

Issue can also be caused by not source patching the track.

Are you trying to drag a mono file to a stereo track or the other way round?
