Question

When using keyframes to stabilize video, the video is frozen/freezes

I've been using keyframes manually to stabilize my video clips and when I use them, the video freezes on one frame for the duration of the clip.  Does anyone know how to fix this? I've updated drivers.

Your external drive may be a bottleneck, as well.

Is it a fast SSD or an HDD?  How is it connected?

Can you move the footage to a fast internal SSD?

To anyone having the same problem:

I started using proxies and not stabilizing as much. I haven't had any freezing yet, I think this suggests that my hardware isn't strong enough.

I'm looking to upgrade my 1060 6GB now, wish me luck in this economy...

Save up for this damn and expensive card from Nvidia RTX 3000 series. It will be a success. But, I just can't imagine how the middle class of people can buy it. This is a used car. And I would like to

Hey LionelsC,

Sorry. Have you tried rendering the footage? If so, it sounds like you may not be meeting system requirements or your footage may be too heavy for your hardware for any real time effects. We are only guessing right now, so we need more info to go on to make any determination at all.

Please give us full specs of your computer including CPU, GPU, RAM, and media drive/storage. That can help in zeroing in on your issue.

Please also run your media through MediaInfo (shareware) in "Tree" view, and then attach/embed the file so we can inspect your clip data. A clip that is in a bonafide editing codec (GoPro Cineform, ProRes, DNxHD/HR) works best. Clips you downloaded from the internet or got from a streaming video scenario do not work very well, if at all.

The solution for dealing with poorly functioning media is to copy the clips to an editing codec. If you can't transcode using Media Encoder, try the shareware, Shutter Encoder. It can help you transcode to a better codec. Do not mind the large file sizes, they are that way for a reason. No harm, no foul, though: delete them after you're done with your project.

Thanks,
Kevin

CPU: Intel i7-8700 @3.20GHz 3.10GHz

GPU: GeForce 1060 6GB

RAM: 16GB

Storage on external 2TB HD

The clips are .mp4 from a Mavic 2 drone.

I'll try copying the clips to an editing codec.
