Which gamma setting for display calibration?

I'm about to color grade a video project, and going to update my color calibration with Sypder 4 puck and Spyder calibration software on a Mac. In the past I've mainly been concerned with still photography/print color, but want to calibrate for color grading with Premiere now. The video will mainly be seen on Youtube, not on TV or projected.

Currently I have 2.2 gamma/6500k set with calibration software. Does that sound like the best setting? Would there be a better gamma setting?

First, what's your editing area like? Do you have controlled/subdued lighting, or is it pretty bright? To actually do much work, you'll want to work if possible in a subdued (but not too dark) environment. The D6500 setting is correct, and it is often suggested if one has a controlled environment to grade in, set the monitor to around 100 to 120 cd/m

Next, for YouTube, probably sticking with 2.2 would be the most common advice. Which is, from a number of noted colorists ... 2.2 for web, 2.4 for broadcast, and 2.6 for cinema/movie theatre (and that does need to be graded in a dark room).

Subdued, darkish room with some ambient daylight.

Thanks, that helps re: gamma.
