Question

Widen the captions to cover the screen from left to right edge

Hi, how can expand the captions text box to go closer to the edge on the right and left?

I tried expanding it, and it was possible for a bit, but then it seems like I'm hitting some kind of limitation.

Additionally, increasing "Set Horizontal Size" only expands the text box to a certain point but it seemingly is hitting the same limitations.

Background info on the project: this used to be a 16:9 video that I want to adapt to 4:5 aspect ratio so having the option to expend the text box would make this task much easier instead of manually recreating  captions with Type Tool (which offers more flexibility to expand the text box)

I agree with Vishu; you have run intop a hard limit. You can set the caption zone to bottom left, text alignment to left, and you can adjust the horizontal position. But no matter how you do it, you will finish with being at that (actually) 5% limit. (The 5% for captions was an improvement in the 2021-2022 caption workflow.)

Part of the problem is that captions are just not easy in a portrait frame. You almost have to reduce the font size.

If you really want to move into that edge space, you'll have to use regular text, not the caption workflow.

As per my understanding captions width is maximum to the default Action safe defined in premiere which is 10%.

Refer to the screenshot below

If you're converting the 16:9 sequence to 4:3 then try to use Auto Reframe sequence it may be give better results without much efforts.
