Hi, I am an autistic girl who has started a Booktube channel. I would like to change from my current editor to one of adobes video editors.  To avoid getting in trouble I want to know which video editors I can buy and then use for my YouTube videos now AND in the future when I am making monetized videos.  I want a video editor where I can use all of the tools, effects, etc, etc. Without having to worry about licenses etc.  Just keep it simple. I just want to buy the program and use it for all my videos, monetized or other wise. Which video editing program should I buy?

Although you want to find something now that you can use for a really long time it's probably more accurate to think about what your source material is now and what you expect it to be in the next few years.... compared to what your 'export' ( product ) is now and will be later on. For most people that changes over time. I used to shoot with a DSLR and then I got a Blackmagic Camera and they are different cameras and codecs and dimensions. Nikon is full HD DNxHD via atomos recorder, where Blackmagic 4k is Braw at 4K. Different stuff, and editors handle the stuff differently. The best editor for Braw right now is Resolve ( I use version 15 cause my computer can handle it. It is not powerful enough to use the newer versions of Resolve ). I also like it for DNxHD stuff... from the Nikon.

The good thing about Adobe is that it is geared more for what younger people are using now ( go pro cameras and drones and smartPhones etc. ). It also is pretty good at the normal stuff ( more pro sumer stuff ) with some caveats.

Your situation is really no different than anyone else's situation regarding 'choices' and dependablity for the future. You have Avid, FCP, Resolve, Adobe and then the pro stuff that you can't buy off the shelf ( the major motion pic studios use a lot of stuff that was specially made to work on that stuff, like George Lucas Film and Speilberg and so on ).

I think your question should be geared toward the technical stuff you are using ( cameras, computer platform, monitors, sound, etc. ) and less about a difference in perception and behavior concerned with Autism. You will have the same tools to work with but have to make the choice based more on the stuff you want to use, what you have to work with, just like everyone else.

I was autistic as a kid and some aunt told my mother that maybe I was autistic, but I thought she said " ARTISTIC" so I ended up going to art school ( Pratt Institute for fine arts ).

It will take work to learn whatever you choose cause they are all complicted programs and require a regime of self learning ( manuals and help files and tutorials ).

Good luck and God bless.

🙂

this is a good book for anyone who wants to learn a little about autism stuff in a general way. Written well.

Hi there! Autistic myself, as are my oldest daughter (a Lutheran pastor) and youngest son (near to graduation from George Fox). And gee ... we're all book nuts, reading typically 4+ books at any one time.

Any non-linear editor can be used for that work. The licensing for the applications only concerns the use of the applications, not the output of the users using the application. It is an assumption of a "pro" level application like Premiere Pro that the user will be producing content for money.

Now, for the difference between Adobe's two editing apps, Premiere Elements and Premiere Pro.

Premiere Elements is a one-time charge. It is easier to use, and automates many functions and options for the user. It does have some limitations on what can be done, but for many general and personal projects, it can work fine. It is much easier to learn.

Premeire Pro is a subscription model, meaning there is a monthly charge for the use. It is incredibly broad and deep in tools and effects, built also for the user to buy tools/effects from other sources and add them in, such as from Boris or RedGiant or whatever.

But as a "pro" app, the assumption is that the editor wants total ... therefore manual ... control, and few things are automated. The basic operation can be explained pretty simply, and simple things can be done easily and quickly. But ... past that, it has a hard and steep learning curve. I suggest using a subscription to LinkedInLearning for a month or two of deep study of how to work within the program.

So in other words either premiere elements or  premiere pro will work. What about premiere rush? And when you say it doesn't cover the output does that mean I could get in trouble using these programs for MONETIZED videos?
