Closed Caption Text Editing In Timeline

The idea is to be able to edit closed captions directly in the sequence of the subtitle row by being able to double click the closed caption and modify the text in each closed caption section.

Example, in the attached picture, I would find it useful if i could double click the "he would" and the box would highlight and i could just start typing that way instead of having to move my mouse around to different panels.

Hope that helps !

@Laurentiu5CFB,

Upvoted. Double-clicking does nothing now. And having options to get into edit mode is good.

Here are alternatives.

There is an unassigned shortcut for "Edit selected caption text." It appears to be an Application level shortcut, so works from the timeline, even with the Text and Properties panels closed. I'll use Ctl+P for this example.

With focus in the timeline, Ctl+Alt+ Up/down moves from one caption to the next AND selects it. Ctl+P moves focus to the Program Monitor and puts the caption into edit mode with all the text highlighted.

Another option allows jumping randomly to captions. With Selection Follows Playhead on, click in the timeline to a caption (don't click on the caption). Ctl+P selects the caption and goes into edit mode in the Program Monitor.

Or, just work in the Text panel. With Selection follows playhead on or off, click on or over any caption. The text panel moves to the caption under the playhead and indicates it with a blue bar. Double-click to enter edit mode.
