Custom sequence settings should be available when I want to modify my sequence.

Does anyone else get frustrated by the fact that if I want to modify a sequence's settings,  the custom presets are not available and I literally have to change the sequence settings on every sequence manually.  This is relevant when you need to make, for instance, social formatted versions of edits, which I do manually since the auto format option is terrible.  Say I have 30 sequences I need to make vertical versions of, this is going to take me for ever!  A "workaround" could be to make 30 new sequences in the vertical format and paste each sequence into these, but that won't save any time.  Is there a reason custom settings are not available when modifying a sequence's settings?

Hi there,

We're sorry about this. Currently, previously made custom Sequence presets are only available while creating a new sequence. They are not available in Editing Mode when modifying sequence settings for an existing sequence. We suggest submitting a feature request for this at our Ideas page. Hope you find it useful.

Thanks,

Sumeet

Just curious—what’s the specific issue you're having with Auto Reframe? That feature is usually the fastest way to generate social-formatted versions of sequences.

@dan.meadows.racernetwork

I think this is a great idea.  It could match the Preset pop-up menu that we find in Adobe After Effects.

I've mocked up a sample below.

Pictured: What the Premiere Pro Sequence Settings dialog box might look like with a Preset pop-up menu in focus like the one found in the After Effects Composition Settings dialog box.Pictured: What the Premiere Pro Sequence Settings dialog box might look like with a Preset pop-up menu in focus like the one found in the After Effects Composition Settings dialog box.

Yes, this makes sense.  In AE modifying a comp is much easier, since your saved comp presets are available when you change the comp settings.  Something similar in PPro doesn't seem that complicated (to my non programmer brain).  Thanks!

Thanks for your reply.  Yes, saying it's "terrible" is probably not appropriate or accurate.  It's just a matter of preference.  True, it's quick and often does a decent job.  But often it focuses in on the wrong stuff and (perhaps because I don't use it a lot I find correcting those errors using position keyframing a little clunky.  There may be an easier way I don't know about. And perhaps, taking this manual sequence settings modifying issue, it is quicker.  Probably comes down to me being an old fart!

There are other scenarios where having a more efficient way of changing a sequence's setting would save time - like changing the audio patching when making a sequence that needs to have split audio, for instance, which currently I find very clunky.

Makes total sense. And personally I don't see why we can't ... that doesn't make sense. We have a list of presets, why aren't all presets there? Yep.
