Discovering DaVinci Resolve's 'Swap Clips' Command - Is There an Equivalent in Premiere Pro?

Hey everyone,

I've recently started using DaVinci Resolve alongside Premiere Pro, and I’ve found a couple of features in Resolve that I really like. One feature I found particularly useful is the ‘Swap Clips’ command, which lets you swap clips to the right or left by simply hitting Cmd + Shift and either . or ,. It’s incredibly efficient for quickly rearranging clips on the timeline.

I’m wondering if Premiere Pro has a similar function that allows me to move clips left or right seamlessly without dragging them manually. If there’s an equivalent feature or a workaround, I'd love to hear about it!

Additionally, if this feature isn’t currently available in Premiere Pro, could the Adobe Premiere engineers consider introducing something similar in future updates? It would be a great addition for enhancing workflow efficiency.

Any pointers or tips would be highly appreciated!

Thanks!

Hello,

I've recently started using DaVinci Resolve alongside Premiere Pro, and I’ve found a couple of features in Resolve that I really like. One feature I found particularly useful is the ‘Swap Clips’ command, which lets you swap clips to the right or left by simply hitting Cmd + Shift and either . or ,. It’s incredibly efficient for quickly rearranging clips on the timeline.

To explain further, this feature allows me to move clips to the left or right on the timeline without the need to drag them manually. By pressing Cmd + Shift and either the period or comma key, I can seamlessly swap the position of a clip with the adjacent clip, making the editing process much faster and more intuitive. This functionality also applies when selecting multiple clips; the entire selection can be moved together, maintaining their relative order, to a position before or after another clip.

If this feature isn’t currently available in Premiere Pro, could the Adobe Premiere engineers consider introducing something similar in future updates? It would be a great addition for enhancing workflow efficiency.

Thank you!

You can swap by click/drag, but not by keyboard short. One of the few shorts that Resolve has that Premiere doesn't ... and would be really useful. Thanks and happy to upvote.
