Community Beginner ,

Why does horizontal movement no longer exist in essential graphics? But only the vertical one

Can you be more specific?

It is not possible to do a crawl with the titles, only the roll.

You will have to make a feature request for horizontal scroll.

Ann's right. And of course, like many, I don't understand why this wasn't created. But you can do it manually, and after a couple times, decently quickly.

But yea, I'd upvote a crawl Idea post ...

yes I am with photoshop, but if I have many titles it becomes a huge file, now I use after effect, but it is a long process. I edit programs for TV, crawll with premiere would be faster.

Hey, we'd all love a "natural" crawl in Premiere ... !

I know of folks who create all their text for the crawl, then paste it into some basic text editor and strip out all character returns. Then click on the Program monitor in Pr, to create a "point text" location, then paste their stripped text on that.

Start it off-screen to the right, and after figuring out how long it needs to go, move to there, and set the motion to off-screen to the left.

It's doable, but yea, it's extra work.

@Annika Koenig  ... another user who'd love themselves a crawl ...   😉

Hi @NICOLE253348541y75,

I moved this post to the Ideas forum for feature requests. I hope that is OK. I upvoted.

Thanks,
Kevin

We never added crawl for Essential graphics because we concluded it was very rarely used feature. But I am curious how many votes this gets!

Thanks for popping in, Annika!

This is one of those things that doesn't necessarily have a "huge" normal base, but for some very pro workflows, is a daily "thing" needing doing. I've even seen it used for language translation purposes, additional to captioning.

I love using a crawl as a motion graphics design element, not necessarily meant to be read. Quasi-military FUI, HUDs and stuff like that.

Cheers,
Kevin

hi, I edit 3 TV programs a week with very tight deadlines. The end credits with the old versions of Premiere Pro were done very quickly, now I have to use After Effects or Photoshop, significantly extending post-production times. Usually the credits are 3568 characters, think about it.

Are you doing crawls or rolls?

After you learn the rolls process in the EGP, I know quite a few b-cast folks have found it very usable.

The horizontal crawl ... having to set it manually ... not so much.

Hi @NICOLE253348541y75,

Thanks for the response. You could manually do a crawl in Premiere Pro. Have you tried it? Let me know if you need any tips on doing that. Sorry for the frustration on this one.

Take Care,
Kevin

Until the 2022 version I used the crawl function of Premiere pro every day without problems. I don't understand why it wasn't implemented in the essential graphics of the new versions. I have to use the Pro version v22.00.

Annika explained above. Very simple, they didn't find that very many of us were using crawls, so they put their time in where more users "were".

Which is understandable for basing priorities, but very frustrating for those of us who are in the groups wanting something. I've got some color things like that. Too few want them.

Hi, is it possible that no one edits television programs with Premiere Pro and doesn't need to make crawl titles?
All software has the ability to roll and crawl. Premiere pro 2023 no...

Pr is used in quite a few b-cast facilities. From talking with such folks at NAB, they mostly use the "industrial strength" software crawl/lower-thirds/titling services.

Hence, the devs probably haven't felt that much pressure to build this in ... for the rest of us.

Who would dearly, dearly love to have it ... sigh.

Hi, I have already tried your system, but Premiere does not allow you to go beyond the -31110.3 position, as per the attached photo. The crawl stops before the credits end. Our credits usually average 350 words. Another option is to make a PNG file with Photoshop with a size of 150000 x 432, and make the title move from right to left with Motion with much longer working times. I hope you understand my frustration. I have been using Premiere since version 4.0, after 40 years I would hate to change software. Thanks for your patience

Understood. It is so frustrating that they haven't brought horizontal crawl to the EGP. It took awhile before we even got the full Text Editor set of keyboard shorts, but we did eventually get them.

expected crawl would come, but wow ... it hasn't.

@AnnikaKoenig @DaciaSaenz we would so love a crawl! Oh how I could use that ... sigh.

Hello, another problem with Premiere 2024 with the essential graphics. Why the graphic files inserted with the titles do not have the possibility of having the border and the shadow, with the old versions you could add these styles.Immagine001.pngImmagine002.png
