Keep Audio Waveform When Clip Is Muted

In the latest update (25.2), audio waveforms now respond to the db level. This includes when the clip is muted in the Essential Sound panel. I would like to offer the opinion that the waveform disappearing when muted is not helpful. I love that the waveforms respond to changes in volume, but I think when a clip is muted, there is a better way of denoting that, other than taking away the waveform. I often use a muted clip's waveform when muting and unmuting multiple mics.

I would appreciate this at least being a setting I can turn off, as the waveform disappearing is significantly slowing down my workflow on videos with multiple people (and thus multiple mics).

I know I should have rung in on this during beta, but I didn't have time to really mess around in the beta this time.

This should absolutely have been optional. The whole point of a visible waveform is to be able to perform edits and keyframes visually. Often this is done on muted tracks which is now impossible.

Edit: I do like the new behaviour but it would useful to be able to toggle it off and on.

Hi, have there been any changes?  I as because I believe I found a solution when I upgraded because my waveforms do show when muted...  but my colleague just updated and she doesn't see the waveforms and I can't remember what I did to fix it...

I remembered/found it!  You go to View and toggle off Dynamic Audio Waveforms.

You're my favorite! I've been using the version of Premiere before dynamic audio waveforms cause it was that big of an issue for me but now I can update! Thank you!

So much love for you finding this. I had to work on an older version as i want to edit keyframes ahead of myself. we edit podcasts and often some words are quiet so we mute it as background noise, but as we come to it we often can see its not and want to pull it back up. youre the GOAT!
