[Now released] Restore MKV Format Support

Removing MKV Format support has a negative impact on the workflow of people that work with broadcasting software like OBS. Restore MKV support. Having native support for MKVs, even if they don't edit well without generating proxies, saves me a ton of time that I'd otherwise have to spend remuxing/transcoding files.

Just plain stupidity on Adobe's part to stop supporting this container format.

MKV container support is incredibly useful, despite only supporting opening/decoding. What a stupid idea to remove it. Bring it back, along with support for other increasingly popular open codecs like VP9, Vorbis and Opus (WebM). The world doesn't revolve around MOV and MP4.

Disgusting. What am I paying for? The privilege of software that automatically breaks itself? If I hadn't used a legitimate copy, I'd still have support.

Why Premiere Pro does not support .mkv files? This is the best video editing software, still it does not support .mkv files. Does it make sense from any angle?
And why would I convert and then import the clip? In general, the most popular formats of videos are .mkv and .mp4. But .mkv provides more quality than .mp4. So, why would I convert the format, where I am going to use the best video editing software in this world?
This problem is really too much bad for the reputation of Premiere Pro. Please, take needed steps and fix the issue that all including me can continue with Premiere Pro rather than shifting to DaVinci Resolve.

Yeah, I have to agree with this thread I really would love to have MKV support. I just started using Adobe Premier Pro and I am wasting so much time with format conversion.

Why would this not be a standard feature this format has been around for 18 years now. It is not a new format.

We want MKV support back!! I had to use 2019 version which is suck, why we have to use older version while there's newer available? Adobe bring back this in 2021 please!!
