Petition to update text feature

Sometimes I like to select a word from an interview to change the intonation of a sentence, let's say 'am' as an example. If you have everything in a rushes timeline, whenever you cut the word out (let's say you eat into the word like 'camera'), the text feature automatically jumps in the timeline before you can copy and paste the clip you just cut out and you can no longer search for that word as premiere doesn't recognise it anymore as you've cut into it.

Also if you leave a word in the text box and switch to another sequence, after a bit of lag it automatically jumps in the timeline if that word is already present in the new sequence, so you lose your place and have to hunt for where you just were in the timeline.

Very frustrating so would love to see this updated!

In the Transcript panel, if you click the funnel icon and select 'Search Settings...'

You can then enable 'Search whole single word'. This will avoid selecting 'am' in 'camera'.

@NO-ID2815921779ke,

I think you are raising 3 issues. Mike addresses the first, which is searcing for words that can occur in other words, and he points to the easiest fix. Very sophisticated searches are also possible using Regex. I confirmed today it is still working in PR 25.3. This post gives an example for finding either of 2 words:

I'm not sure what you're work flow is. I wonder if you can use the feature of adding markers in the text panel so you can get back to a location. Or mark the in/out for the section you want to insert (?in another sequence?) instead of copy paste.

This can be problematic and frustrating. See this post in a thread discussing the issue. I have no tested in PR 25.3, but I believe it was improved.

That thread does not discuss whether "selection follows playhead," and I don't recall if it had any effect.

We've been given access to a Regex via a secret code!?

I love it!
