Please make rounded corners an option

Community Beginner ,
Dec 20, 2024 Dec 20, 2024

Please make rounded corners an option, or have squared corners where clips are touching the same line. I thought I was going crazy because my clips had tons of 1-2 frame gaps and I kept having to zoom way in to see them. Only to find out it's the new update. Cmon. I've been working in PPro full time for 20+ years. this is silly.

The new Premiere Beta version has rounded corners on the clips on the timeline. This makes it very difficult to tell if there's any empy frames between clips. There is no benefit to it. It disrupts my workflow and just looks unprofessional. This UI has kept myself and many other working editors I know from switching to Davinci Resolve. If this rounded clip UI is added to premiere, it is one more reason to cancel my adobe subscription.

Why did yall remove the boxy design from the timeline. It made yall standout. The new rounded design suck cheeks, it looks tacky and like every other software out there. At least give us an option to turn it on or off. It looks terrible.

So much better

Is there an option to disable the new "rounded corner" design in the timeline?
I can work way better, with sharp edges instead the rounded design.

Thanks in advance.

I was writing a long rant but got tired.
With all due respect, but "Round corners in timeline" are an absolute nightmare and another example of notorious customer service from Adobe. Since introduction in Beta people were begging to make these rounds optional. These negative spaces are just not working for a huge amount of people! It is extremely hard to determine where is a cut and where is a gap. Why not making it optional? Why forcefeed something that is known to be an issue for customers?
It is a great time to downgrade

100% ditto here.  #FeatureRequest.  Make the rounded corners optional.  They are an inhibtion to precision and speed for many of us.  Let the folks who like them use them, and let those of us who don't keep sharper corners.

You have to uninstall and revert back to version 24.0 which keeps crashing for me whenever I drag files into my timeline!

When I upgraded it was so complicated.

Why don't softwares stick to simplicity????

That's why I hardly update ANYTHING, including windows. Is still regretted upgrading from windows 10 to 11.

I just hate it. Updating means changing what we're used to. As editors we get into the habit and synchronize with what we do. So just fix bugs and stop changing displays and layouts. It's CONFUSING!

the rounded boxed clips on the timeline are difficult to attach clips accurately. There were so many frames out of time by split seconds when I exported my project because you have to ZOOM right it to make sure the clips have connected precisely because of the silly rounded corners.

Make it OPTIONAL ADOBE!

YOU AREN'T THE ONES EDITING AND PAYING, WE ARE, THE CUSTOMER!

It's ridiculous, you added crop as a default effect in every clip. It's just a mouthful to swallow. What if we don't want to crop every element? Stop it.

Just keep it SIMPLE!

We'll see the effects we want stick to the default. I can't believe I'm paying for this.

Make an Update where we can CHOOSE to have the unpractical rounded box clips on the timeline. It took me double the time and frustration to make a video Which had so many blank gaps in between!!

UPDATED COMMENT (spelling mistakes)

You have to uninstall and revert back to version 24.0 if you want original square boxed clips on timeline (which keeps crashing for me whenever I drag files into my timeline!, hence why I had to upgrade because I tried everything to fix the bug)

100% agree with this. It should be an option. I'm having a lot of trouble seeing my edit points with the rounded corners. Feels like an aesthetic choice over basic editing needs. I find it extremely frustrating with no benefit.

Agree 100% with everyone else on here.  the new rounded corners is terrible.  It is impossible to see edit points when zoomed out, and impossible to differentiate clips.   There are 2 clips on V4 (iris/blue) abd 3 clips on V3 (yellow), but there is no way to tell.  It is a brutal update and costs me time while edititng.  Please revert back to previous versions of the timeline.   Thank you

That issue you're seeing is a bug. If you up your track height even one click you'll see the edits.

Thanks.  Noticed that expanding the track helps as well, but it is still an annoying update that makes it harder to work.  Especially when I am working on a large timeline and don't want to expand all the tracks

I think that most of the long-time user of Premiere Pro find all these UI updates wrong and unproductive. Please, change this or make this optionnal, we are paying you since forever, there should be at least stability in the product. Remove the crop by default in clip effect. Remove those rounded corner. Remove that bug that make in and out point invisible when the clips are at their minimal thickness.

As has been noted, in the public beta they are much smaller, to the point of not really being a problem. So that will eventually become the shipping version. Sooner is better methinks.

Like many, I'd prefer an option for the corners. That said, and not being one that finds any use for them at all ... I do know others that find this so much nicer to look at with the rounded corners.

We are all different ...

100% agree, there really should be an option to turn this off. It makes lining up edit points hugely more difficult, and in quick turnaround jobs it's just asking for trouble.

Exactly I'm often using a lot of layers and it's frustrating to zoom in/out to check. Adobe, please update this.

Again, as stated many times in this and other threads, they will be much smaller after the new patch update ... whenever that comes out. As they are in recent builds in the public beta.

So it will change ... to not quite as annoying.

They can also just get rid of them or offer a preferences option. In my opinion, the aesthetics, smaller or not, offers no function value so I don't really want to have software patches. Smaller doesn't really interest me.

Perahps part of it is your reference to 'patches' ... which perhaps, you mis-understand. When a major version is released, that's a major version. Subsequent updates are commonly referred to as "Patches".

So the say 25.0 version is the major release, and we have had a couple updates to that, so we currently are on ... what, 25.1.0 or something like that?

Patches are an update to the regular release. And include bug fixes as well as at times changes in functionality.

Check out the newest beta build to see what they have done there. It's vastly minimized.

Offering user options, though what you and I would prefer, always includes more complications for the coding. And that is at times enough of an issue that for the small percentage of users objecting to this ... and I would hazard those of us objecting are less than 5% of the several million daily users ... the devs think minimizing is their better option.

I may not agree, but I can grudgingly understand.
