Reload footage

Please add the option to Reload Footage from the project panel.

Example:
You have an image sequence in your timeline. You edit the sequence in AE (for example) and re-export, having now a sequence that is 1 second longer. This doesn't update in Premiere, which see there have been changes to the sequence but it doesn't realize it's now longer.
You now have to select your sequence in the project panel, click Replace Footage, navigate back to where the sequence is (very annoying) and select it again. 
Just add an option (like in AE) to reload the footage instead.

If you export with the same file name, it will reload in premiere.

I have done this many times and it does not matter if the new file is longer or shorter.

agree with this request! I find myself closing and reopening Premiere every time I re-render an After Effects clip.  Add the "reload" option please

This issue occurs, not only in the circumstance described by original author but even when updating/re-exporting a piece of media that is the exact same length.  It appears as though any chage to the underlying data beffudles Premiere in such a way that is entirely unnecessary.  It needs to stop clinging to the past and just accept that, despite having the same file name, the media has been updated, for reasons which are my own concern.

Another example is, exporting a sequence from an application other than Premiere or AfterEffects, such as: Maya, Blender, 3DsMax, Unreal, etc.  If something in that media is discovered to be problematic (raytracing artifact, constraint-driven animation, material/texture glitch, etc.) and the media is regenerated to address that problem, then Premiere loses its mind.  Just forget what came before, as far as whatever hidden metadata it's clinging to, and just RELOAD THE CLIP!  I changed it for a reason.

Reloading button will solve a lot of my problems. My workplace is hybrid, and when I work on a project at the office and then open it again at home, some footage doesn't update, and I have to manually pick and replace it. It even doesn't update when rendering.

It's interesting how Adobe wants to advance so much in AI, but it doesn't fix basic issues with simple solutions like Reload media button.

Not sure why they don't develop this feature. It's so simple and basic.

Very big +1 for this feature! There's a lot of re-rendering and updating as shots go through render and comp, and a reload button would save a fair bit of time over the course of a day.

For example, you might re-render an image sequence with 50 more frames than before due to edit needs - a quick reload option like in AE would save the extra steps of relinking etc.

This would be especially as the file window doesn't seem to remember the last used location if the operation was to replace, whereas it will remember the last location used for an Import.
