Shortcut for closing caption box after editing

I wish there were a keyboard shortcut when you are done editing a caption box. It ruins my workflow by moving my hand over to the mouse to click outside the captions box to push the Space Bar for further playback..

Ex. cmd/control + Enter would save the caption box and make further playback with Space Bar possible.

@Arne_B are you on the latest version of Premiere Pro ? (23.5?) There were some improvements around the shortcut handling very recently.

Just to confirm - you start playback (via space) - then stop when you want to edit - press "return" to enter edit mode - make the correction - press escape to confirm the edit - press play again to continue until you are on a word you want to edit ?

Best regards,

 Alexander

I tried to use Enter to edit, but with the Text panel active, it just jumps back with playback from the start of the sequence

That was what I was looking for! Thank you!

@Alexander Riss,

omg. I was so intent on looking at all the new shortcuts, I missed the classic. Thank you!

@Arne_B, Thanks for calling attention to this workflow. I see now that with focus in the Captions tab and autoscroll on, as the timeline plays, with or without a caption selected in the timeline, the caption under the playhead shows a blue bar in the Captions tab. Hitting Enter enters edit mode for that caption, even as the timeline continues to play. A quick edit can be made without even stopping playback.

Thank you for your feedback!

In the text panel you can exit edit mode and submit changed by pressing "escape" or cancel changes via shift-"escape". Would that help your workflow? You could then go through all segments via -> return to enter edit mode -> escape to exit -> space to play -> repeat

Best regards,

 Alexander

Many keyboard shortcuts specific to the Text Panel were added as part of the text-based editing workflow. But I do not see one that would accomplish this. And you are correct: this is a major time saver (/waster!).

@Kerstin Ebert @Alexander Riss Are we missing something? Is there another feature request for this already? I don't see one.
