Transcription Export Clip Original Timecode not Sequence Timecode

Please create an option where I can use the "Export to text file" to create a text document that includes the clip timecode - NOT THE SEQUENCE timecode.

This helps workflow with non editors such as clients and producers that can use the text file and send the editor accurate timecode from the clips and not the timecode on the sequence we created.

Thanks

Upvoted. That is a reasonable workflow, and it would benefit other users. But I'm not sure how this would work.

The still relatively new text-based editing processes have some limitations that are "by design." For example, you can only edit Speakers in the source media transcript when in source media view and in a static transcript in sequence view. You can't edit Speakers in the source media transcript when in sequence view. There are Ideas/feature requests to make this more flexible (still allow editing Speakers in a source transcript from the sequence view) and more robust (track Speakers across source clips in a project).

When editing in the sequence using source transcripts, the transcript changes, but those changes are only in the sequence view, NOT in the source media transcripts. They can't be, because that source carries it's full transcript unless edited in the source view.

So to have a way to export a source media transcript - AS EDITED in the sequence - would require some way to tracking that.

It is not that it cannot be done, but as an Idea, it must compete with other possibilities.

I suggest sharing this feedback with Adobe support. They're usually receptive to user suggestions for improving their software. In the meantime, we'll continue using our current workflow for client review. Let's keep an eye out for updates that could make our editing process even smoother! @Kevin-Monahan

Thanks Toxo, that's a good feature for single clips one at a time, but not quite what I need.

I want the option to do this with clips already in a sequence and get the individual clip timecodes to reflect the transcription

Hello,

The feature you're looking for already exists within Premiere Pro. You can easily create a text document containing clip timecodes directly from your original video files. Here's how you can access this feature:

Access Source Panel: Open Premiere Pro and navigate to the Source panel.

Import Your Original File: Upload your original video file into the Source panel.

Open the Text Panel: Go to the "Windows" menu and select "Text" to open the Text panel.

Select the Source Panel: Ensure that the Source panel is active and selected.

Transcribe the Audio: Look for the "Transcribe" option within the Text>Transcription panel and follow the prompts to transcribe the audio of your clip.

Export to Text File: Once you have the clip loaded in the Source panel and the transcription is done, locate the four-dot menu at the top left corner of the Transcription panel.

Choose "Export" and Then "Export to Text File": Click on the four-dot menu, select "Export," and then choose "Export to Text File."

Save Your File: Name your text file and select a location on your computer to save it. Click "Save."
