Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 install from Adobe Website. Installation problems.

Hello everyone.

I recently purchased a new computer.  And i've been trying to get all my software onto the new computer.  when the time came to install Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 I was informed that the website for activation of the product was down.  After talking about the issue with an adobe chat agent I was informed that all the CS2 software was in the same boat, and that a dedicated web page provided versions of the software which did not require activation.  (exclusively for people who owned the older software of course.) The site is here:

https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2_downloads

I was told to use the Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 to replace my version 1.5 and that I could use the provided serial numbers.

After downloading the software I discovered that it could not install.  It accepted the serial number from the Adobe Site, but it ran into this error message:

Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 Installer Information

Error 1311.Source File not found: C:\Users\"myname"\AppData\Local\Temp\Temp 1_PPRO_2.0_Ret-NH_UE (4).zip\Premiere Pro 2.0\Adobe Premiere Pro\Data1.cab.  Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.

Pressing Retry only reloaded the error message.

I dare not try to install my version of Adobe Premiere 1.5 again because I dont want it to crash and stall again.  (that is what happened when I tried to instal my older software.)

If anyone knows how I can get my software up and running I would appreciate it.  You could save me from having to go and buy the new Adobe Premiere which would cost me a tremendous amount of money.  Thank you for you consideration.

Just so you know.  I also owned Adobe Photoshop CS2.  And the site worked for getting that software working.  I get the annoying register you product message (when it loads) but other than that it appears to be working.  I have no idea how to get the Adobe Premiere 2.0 to work.  ("There is no Adobe Premiere 1.5 download on the site.)

When you downloaded the Windows ZIP file PPRO_2.0_Ret-NH_UE.zip did you receive any error messages when you Un-zipped the file?

What is the complete list of files that were in your download folder after un-zipping the file?

Did you try a new download and un-zip to see if your first download was somehow corrupted?

If you can't get the program to install at all, consider Premiere Elements for under $100

I have to unzip the file?  I didn't notice the icon, but yes I see it now, you could be right. The install wizard might not be working because it was operating inside a compressed folder.  Will the   "Extract All" option work?  I didn't recieve any error message when I opened the file and looked in the folder. Should I create a new folder to put all the program elements into once they are extracted?

Sorry for my dumb questions.

thanks.

I extracted the files but now the program which seems to have installed correctly now, simply flashes on and off when I go to start it.

Are you now on Win7 or Win8?

If yes, right click the PPro2 icon and select WinXP compatibility mode from the option window

Yes I am on Windows 7. I right clicked and I opened the properties window.  On the compatibility tab window I selected for the program to run in compatibility with windows XP service pack 3 and I tested service pack 2 also.  The program still only flickers on and imediately shuts off.  The program dosen't properly launch when I double click the icon.  I dont know what to do.

I'm really running out of ideas, but the next thing to try is a newer (or, sometimes, older) graphics card driver

What is your exact brand/model graphics adapter (ATI or nVidia or ???)

What is your exact graphics adapter driver version?

Have you gone to the vendor web site to check for a newer driver?

-In Windows, do NOT rely on Windows Update to have current driver information

-you need to go direct to the vendor web site and check updates for yourself

ATI Driver Autodetect http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/auto-detect-tool

nVidia Driver Downloads http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

I read your suggestion.  I was afraid you might say something like that.  I have a very expensive workstation computer.  I can't risk messing with the drivers when they are all functioning properly.  Its the Adobe Premiere that isn't functioning correctly.  After talking with you, it has become readily clear that It might be worth it for me to invest in the new software.  The older programs sometimes aren't functional in new hardware.  I am quite sure that if there was a way to make it work, it would have been more readily apparent.  based off everything I know now, I'd rather wait a little and get exactly what I need, than to rely on outdated  and non-functional software.

Thanks for helping me.  Almost saved a bundle of money.  I know more about installing programs though.  I should have known to un-zip/extract those files before I tried to install the program. So all is not lost. I learned a thing or two.

Thanks for the help.

Sorry I couldn't help more, but the last time I used PPro2 it was on a WinXP computer

While the look is different, the latest version 12 Premiere Elements is under $100 and does a LOT more than PPro2 with new file types

If you do go with PreEl-12 the forum I linked in #1 is very active, with a lot of good people providing help
