Question

All my files have disappeared

So I opened up Premiere this morning and every file I've worked on over the past two years is gone. WTF? Adobe opens up the way it did the very first time I used it--as if I've never done a project and it wants to guide me through the steps of making one. Every single video I've ever created is gone. Nothing in the recent files list. Even when I search my hard drive directly--nothing! What the hell is going on here? I'm logged in under the same account I've always had, but every file I've ever worked on--and that's a LOT of files--is GONE.

Neil, thank goodness. I'm glad that's what really happens. I never encountered the problem so I was just guessing.

No, you have not lost anything, no files, no work.

Launch Premiere Pro and click Open Project and open the projects you work with. Sometimes the Preferences get trashed and everything that disappears is the settings you have done in the Preferences and the Recent list. No files have been deleted from your computer.

I've tried this. As I wrote in my first post, I even searched my hard drive directly for any file with a .prproj extension. I got NOTHING each time. All of my files appear to be gone.

Premiere Pro does never delete files, so the files must be there or maybe on an external HDD that is not attached at the moment or that the account you are using now don´t have access to the files. Since you have been working on themf or two years i assume that you have a full backup of the files since disappearing files can be hardware related, iow a HDD that is about to give up.
