Question

Audio EDL with more that 4 tracks

Hey all- I am trying to figure out a way to create an EDL out of Premiere Pro for use in ProTools that will be able to include more than 4 audio tracks. Has anyone figured a workaround for the fact that Premiere only offers the option to create CMX 3600 EDLS's that only includes metadata on the first 4 tracks?

Is there a reason you want to use an EDL over using an OMF transfer into Pro Tools?

Yes- We are using a conform software that uses the EDL to conform all of the 5.1 surround  tracks to the ProTools session. That way the Premiere Pro editor doesn't have to work with all the surround tracks but the ProTools editor has access to all the surround tracks.

I have not done an EDL to ProTools transfer, but . . .

can you send the EDLs 4 audio tracks at a time and have the multiple EDL's combined in Pro Tools - for example send one EDL with tracks 1-4, another with tracks 5-8?
