Audio Issues When Burning Blu-ray

I'm having a rather bizarre audio issue when burning my Encore project to a Blu-ray, but first, here are some specs:

Computer: Mac Pro (late 2013 model); macOS Sierra, version 10.12.6; 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon E5; 12 GB 1866 MHz DDR3

Burner: Asus Blu-ray

Adobe Encore CS6: version 6.0.1.013

Adobe Media Encoder CC: 2017.0 release

Memorex BD-R Single Layer Blu-ray discs

Issue: I work at a university and I'm attempting to burn a Blu-ray of our opera production.  There are only two Acts, so therefore only two chapter markers.  After burning the Blu-ray and playing it in a Blu-ray player, Act I (chapter 1) plays fine with video and audio, but Act II (chapter 2) plays only video, no audio.  When monitoring chapter 2 in the Encore project timeline, audio plays fine.  Even previewing the disc, audio plays fine for Act II.  I have wasted 7 or 8 Blu-ray discs trying to troubleshoot the issue with different format conversions through Media Encoder and toggling between Dolby Digital and PCM (set when creating a new project) as the Audio Transcoding Scheme.  I've started over three times resulting in three different projects with multiple burns from each project.  Alas, to no avail!!

Here are some video/audio formats that I've tried:

video: H.264 Blu-ray HD 720p 59.94; audio: PCM 48k/16bit .WAV

video: MPEG2 Blu-ray HD 720p 59.94; audio: PCM 48k/16bit .WAV

video: MPEG2 HD 720p 29.97; audio: MPEG 48k/16bit Layer II Audio

Let me know if any more information would be pertinent.  Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Correct answer Stan Jones

To clarify, the two acts are two separate video and audio files each that I've imported into the Encore project and have drug into the timeline, therefore resulting in two chapter markers.  Normal procedure that I've always done for several years now.

You appear to have separate files for each Act (video and audio for Act 1 and video and audio for Act 2 - total 4 files). When you have that, it is asking for trouble to put both Acts on one Encore timeline, even though it will sometimes work.

The "simple" method when your two acts are separate files is:

Select Act 1 video and Act 1 audio in the project panel and Timeline -> New Timeline. (Or right click after selecting and New -> Timeline.) And repeat for Act 2. So you have 4 asset files (2 video files and 2 audio files) and 2 timelines.

(When doing a new project, just use "Import as" -> Timeline" and select the Act 1 video and Audio and import).

Create a Playlist (not a chapter playlist), by File -> New -> Playlist. (Or right click in project panel and New -> Playlist.) Select the playlist in the project panel and use the pickwhip (looks like an @ symbol) to add the Act 1 Timeline. Then add the Act 2 timeline.

Link from a "play all" button in your menu to the playlist. You can also play each Act separately by linking to their timelines.

I would start over and create a brand new project in Encore.

I have started over at least 4 times already with the same outcome.  The last time I started over I used different audio/video files from another of the three performances of the opera and still had the same outcome!

Make sure multiplexer is off and the export consist of two files.

You could export the audio separately and use that in Encore.

I always make an iso first and play it in a software player on the computer.

Then I burn this iso to disk

I cannot say Memorex is a bad brand but get yourself a good brand of disks like Verbatim or Tayo Yuden and some re-writables.

Thanks for the reply Ann!

I must say that I've been using the exact same hardware, software, and discs for several years now and have never ran into this.

Then it could be a bad batch....
