AVI Audio not importing correctly - badly muffled with distortion

Hi,

Searched forum and guessing this will be a known compatibility issue.

I want to re-import audio, after editing the original footage in an exported tiff sequence.

The audio will be re-imported and saved with Aftercodecs in mp4 265 format.

Do I need to convert audio into another format?

What format and what should I use?

Premiere does not support divx or gsm?

Convert to editable format before bringing it into Premiere.

Handbreak?

Can I just convert the audio without changing video, so I can re-import to add with the final tiff sequence.

What would be a good format to match well with mp4 265 final?

Thanks

I have already exported tiff sequence, so converting the original video with audio is no issue.

Just re-import the video after sequence, and clear original footage.

The only question is the best format for my purpose, if it matters?

Thanks
