Question

Best font to use for Subtitles?

Hi All,

Are there some standard fonts (best) used in the dvd industry for subtitles?  It would be nice to use fonts that come with Adobe Encore CS5, or ones that are free off the net, if those are good options as well.

Thanks,

Will

Use the default font and you will be fine.

If you like you can change the colour.

Will,

As video is extremely limiting, even more so, than Web design, I feel that simple, clean and sans-serif is better. The "weight" of the font can have a lot of impact, but positive and negative. Sub-titles are even more limiting, as one cannot use that large a font. I use Arial, or Helvetica (or similar). This ARTICLE talks about Titles in general, but the ideas hold for Sub-titles too.

Hope that this helps,

Hunt
