GoPro > Protune settings > Sharpness: Low

Need to sharpen (in Premiere Pro CC 2019) about 10 hrs of color corrected footage, shot at 2.7K 4:3.

Looking for a method that produces quality/professional results.

I'm an ameteur users and would greatly appreciate any recommended settings you can provide as guidance.

Appreciate any insights and recommendations you can offer.

Many thanks!

Obvious question: why is sharpness low in camera and in order for you to raise it again in Premiere.

Lumetri has a sharpen effect (use it wisely)

Could use an adjustment layer.

Thank you for your response, Ann. Apparently, GoPro adds sharpening to the footage it records and generally it looks pleasing. But in this case, I followed a recommendation to turn off the camera's applied sharpening to allow for flexibility in post to add a level of sharpening one may prefer instead. I'm new to GoPro and Premiere Pro, so still learning what's best.

Sharpening in post can result in disappointment.

Might look nice in the timeline but it still needs to be exported.

Compression can make sharpening look awful.

Hence the remark: use it wisely (as in very little).

i would never use sharpen or if I did like 0.001%. use the Un-sharp effect instead. you can also put it under a luma matte to only sharpen non-black areas.

Thanks for your response—greatly appreciated. Do you have an approach (settings ) to using the Un-sharp effect that you find produces pleasing results?
