Blown out sky help

Does anyone know what to do with these or can point me to a good tutorial because every one Ive seen its always a static shot or the sky is the only white portion of the video. The problem is that some of these scenes, like the ones with the guy in the white coat are all tracked which makes it so much harder to try and bring down the brightness of the sky. Or even to replace it like Ive seen some videos do but even when I try that the trees always give off a horrible white light around them so it looks incredibly fake.

You could try just colour correcting the extreme highlights and making them slightly blue.

In my opinion, you can't fix the sky... so do your edit and tell the story, and hopefully the 'audience' doesn't notice to blown out sky stuff... cause the action and story will be the focus of their attention,

    good luck

sorry, but there's no way you'll get anything out of that blown out sky with the source you got.

Would be fruitless to try. Also other problems like you found out ( re: out of focus tree pixels mixing with blown out sky.. can't get that back either... will always look fake ).

If your friend shoots with phone pass along this to him... for the polarizer ... will take the curse off that sky.

what is the source material ?? wrapper and codec

for example, is it raw ? Is it S log ? Is it mov with h264 codec ?

    ???

that will tell people what sort of lattitude you have generally.

    ps.

lattitude is a basic word that sorta describes how many zones ( shades ) are between absolute black and absolute white. Some cameras now tell people this info by how many F stops there are in the footage ( like, 13 stops, etc. )
