Just updated to Premiere 15.4, and while I'm able to generate a transcription of the speech within a sequence, I'm not able to select a caption style when trying to create a caption track from the transcript. Here's a video showing how the selection box continues to show "none" when I try to set the caption style.
Is this happening for anyone else?
The feature works as intended with the latest Premiere Pro Beta version.
It's a catch-22: you must have the style in the project for it to show in the caption creation drop-down. But you can't get the style into the project without getting access to the style browser (requires having text to apply it to) or importing the style.
I think, for the first time you use a style in a project, it's just as easy to create the captions, then use a "local style" (available in the style browser once you have text) to apply it to the caption track.

Can I verify that others are able to select a caption style with Premiere 15.4? Am I alone in experiencing this apparent bug?

You are correct. I can't select a default style. But once they are created, I can modify everything in the track in the Essential Graphics panel, applying any previously created style.

I see the same issue. I would file a bug report.
I am able to create styles. I can see them in the Project Panel. I can assign them to track manually in the timeline/EGP. But as you describe, they appear as choices when creating a caption track from the transcript, but do not "set" when selected. The track is created with the settings that are in the EGP.
I also tested this in Beta (22.0.0 Build 31). There, I can select the style in the create caption track from transcript dialogue, but only one of two styles shows. And I can't tell whether the style is actuall used. Edit: I could use both styles manually, but the second did not appear as a choice for the transcription option. After typing here for a bit, and saving for a second or third time, it did appear.

I have not looked at this since these posts. I tested today in the current release version, 22.3.1.
In the project I am in, I have 3 options in the Captions (none, Default Style, and Large Style). Default is not a "system" default. It is a style I create from the "default" settings when it occurs to me to create a style. This was created by me some time back. It uses a font size of 48. The style "large size" is the same, but uses a font size of 60.
I did a new transcription. Based on my previous results, if the bug is still present, when I pick the style "default," when creating captions from the transcript, it will not have font size 48, it will be 60, the last style used in the project. In fact, it does create the captions as font 48 - no bug?
I changed these new captions in the timeline, to the style "Large font." As expected, they change to font 60. I disable that captions track, and create captions again from the same transcript. "Default style" is now preselected, the last style used to create captions. I leave it as Default Style. The captions are again created as font 48.
Dalien, what version of PR are you using? What are you seeing?
@Matt Young What are you seeing?

This problem went away for me with one of the updates (can't remember which one) after 15.4. I'm running 22.3.1 right now and caption styles are selectable.

2025 and this is still an issue. I can only select a style after everything has been created but not in the actual caption creation tool, the style dropdown is completely empty.
