Question

Changing basic video settings when exporting changes my preset

I'm exporting a video with the YouTube 1080 HD preset in Premiere Pro. After I set that as my preset, I try to change options in the Basic Video Settings below that. When I try to do anything, e.g. choose render maximum depth or change the bitrate coding, the preset automatically changes to Custom from YouTube 1080 HD. The change lowers the quality of my preview. Is this normal for Premiere Pro? Is there a way to keep the preset and change the video settings?

(Edit: Also happens when trying to choose maximum render settings at the very bottom of the exporting options - I'd really like to have maximum render settings.)

Any change made to a preset will be shown as Custom.  That's normal and unavoidable.

Any reduction in quality can only be coming from the changes you're making.

Having said that, I recommend choosing QuickTime as the Format and GoPro Cineform YUV 10 bit as the Preset.  This should give you the best results on YouTube.

hqlmes,

Sorry for this anomaly. Does the Export Settings dialog box show that the two presets have the same settings? Do any of the settings differ now? Post a screenshot if you don't mind.

Thanks,
Kevin
