Changing Extension from mp4 to MOV became a problem in Premiere

Hi There!

As I was working on some big videos about my Family's day out, the videos playing in Premiere were slow, so I looked for some solution on YouTube, a tutorial said renaming the extension from mp4 (My Nikon D5500 creates videos in mp4 format) to MOV will make the videos play faster in Premiere, I renamed one of the videos from mp4 to MOV and it started to play faster (I don't know how come all other videos' extensions became MOV, even when I check my camera's SD Card, all the videos in it are now MOV, don't know how).

Now when I completed the project, Exported it as H.264 (High Bitrate), it didn't show any error msg, exported fine, I played the exported video on my Laptop's VLC, it played nice. But when I copied it in my UBS and played it on my TV (Sony LCD), it gave error msg NO SUPPORT. Other files downloaded from YouTube in mp4 format are playing fine. So I Re-Exported it using the settings for YouTube... But even that didn't work.

May I know what can I do to solve this problem?

Thanks a lot

If we go by this document: Supported File Formats for DLNA® and USB Compatible Sony® TVs, I do not think H.264 is a supported file format. I would suggest you to export your video as an MPEG2 (file extension .mpg).

Renaming your source media (from .mov to .mp4) will not make any difference.

Make sure that the file size should be under 4 GB. As files larger than 4GB are only supported when using the exFAT file system.

Hi

Are you exporting at 60 fps or a 29,97 fps? in your screenshot I can't see the summary but perhaps the framerate is giving you that issue because not all the TV supports that framerate. Try exporting at 29,97 fps.

I was exporting videos 1080 x 1920 (50p)... They didn't play, only the ones with preset Youtube 720 played fine. Now the screenshots you are seeing 60p video... mpeg2 is working.

Hi nawaba65339605,

Sorry for the delayed response.

Please attach a screenshot of the Export Settings window (in Premiere Pro).

Make sure that you export your footage in a format supported by your Sony LCD.

Let us know about the exact model of your TV.

Thanks,

Thanks a lot for your response. I once again created a video with my Nikon D5500. Resolution 1080 x 1920 (60p). Just put text on it, change color a bit and Exported the video in three presets... First in my favorite one H.264 (High Bitrate), I save it in USB and play it on my TV, Sony Bravia X900, 42" LCD. and it gives error msg... Please check the screenshots...

I have been exporting my videos in H.264 High Bitrate and it played superb on my TV until during a project I noticed some lagging, sought some sulotion on Youtube, found this tutorial:

Premiere CC - Audio Video Sync Fix (workaround) - YouTube

Hence, I renamed my mp4 video extension to MOV and completed my project and exported, no error msg I received, but the exported video didn't play on my TV.

Now trying out MPEG as you have suggested...
