Question

Exporting from Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2018 on a slower computer?

Hi,

I have an approximately 30 min. video with two video tracks and six audio tracks. In the past, a 10 min video took a long time on my computer (maybe an hour or two), so I'm concern about how long it would take to export onto an SD card (can I upload onto an SD card?)

-I'm on a Windows computer running Windows 10

I've heard of rendering and encoding and something about rendering before exporting helps? If I need to clarify anything please let me know.

What format should I use?

What things should I click/ unclick to have a faster export?

Thank you.

Don't render/export direct to a card ... do it to a drive either internal or an external SSD connected by USB3/Thunderbolt.

Then copy that to the card.

Sometimes if you use a full-quality codec like Cineform, ProRes, or DNxHD/R as your preview codec, or perhaps the specific codec you will export to, doing a Render/Replace operation first then at export clicking "use previews" can be helpful. Especially if your export is to an intraframe codec like Cineform, ProRes, or DNxHD/R, then that is just used for that part of the export.

But really, what use is the deliverable being made for? Web viewing, TV, archiving the project/footage ... what? As that will determine what the best choice is for the deliverable format/codec.

Does Cineform, ProRes, or DNxHD/R have to be downloaded?

It's being presented on a projector at a college film festival.

to render first to I just click each clip separately and render? Do I need computer space for that?

Premiere Pro CC 2018 for Windows cannot export to ProRes. Nor can it create ProRes proxies. You need Premiere Pro 2019 version 13.0.1 or higher to proxy or export to ProRes.

Premiere Pro CC 2018 already includes Cineform and DNxHD/R codecs. So no need to download those.
