i am trying to export my clip to burn to DVD. I have exported using MPG2-DVD and I have changed the multiplex to DVD. It is exporting to one file however once the export is complete and I try and play the file on my computer and it only has audio. I’m not sure why I am doing wrong.

So I have established that Encore is not compatible with windows 10. I have tried altering resolution, running in compatibility mode, and running as administrator - all of which did not work.

Can I author with another program? I have spend weeks on this footage and now have no way to burn the DVDs.

I also have Encore running on Win10, as do many others.

    How are you opening Encore?

Thank you all for your help, I have changed the way I export now so it goes through adobe media encoder. I have downloaded premier pro cs6 in order to get Encore CS6. However every time I have opened Encore it crashes with “Adobe Encore has stopped working” and the only option is to close it. I have tried run as administrator with the same result. i feel quite useless.

When creating DVD's I always use multiplexing.  I use the MPEG2-DVD setting.  I have tried two other authoring programs:  DVD Styler(Free) and TMPGENc Authoring Works 6(Free Trial).  Both programs do not transcode the video files.

Michael StehlyWhen creating DVD's I always use multiplexing.

Sometimes you get away with it in Encore, sometimes not.

The default setting for the MPEG2-DVD format in PR/AME is multiplexing off.

Huh?  Can you be more specific?

Or let me simplify.  Was this shot in HD?

You can export directly from Premiere into files that can be used to burn a DVD. I always export my video and audio separately and combine them in Encore. I use the MPEG2-DVD setting for video and then adjust my compression settings as I like them. I uncheck "Export Audio" so only the video file is exported. Then I export the audio as .aac audio. In Encore, I recombine them and then burn the DVD.

Just note that aac won't work on DVD, so Encore will transcode it. You  might as well keep audio selected, export as pcm, and let Encore transcode that.

But you're finding the quality okay as you are doing it?

As Ann says, the file should have had video and audio. If you don't get this sorted, post a screenshot of your export settings in Premiere Pro.

Yes, you can do a straightforward export from PR or Adobe Media Encoder, but you can't use it in a DVD player unless you author the files onto disk (using an authoring program like Encore).

The logic is odd: pick multiplexor "none" (not "DVD") when exporting for DVD authoring. I don't know why they use "DVD" for the multiplexed option, but Encore must "demux" a multiplexed file in order to get the individual streams to multiplex in the DVD's proper vob specifications. So that is why you pick the not multiplexed option. The MPEG2-DVD format defaults are set correctly; just don't change it.

You need to author the dvd using a program such as Encore.

Is that the only way, via encore? I can’t just do a straight forward export?

If you want a video-dvd: Nope.

If you are going to use Encore (have to install Premiere CS6 first) then uncheck the multiplexer.

On as side note you should have video with your mpg file you created, not just audio.
