Finding and saving an adjustment layer

New Here ,
Jun 18, 2019 Jun 18, 2019

I exported a clip from Adobe Premiere Pro with an adjustment layer applied to it in order to give it a cinematic look. My instructions are now to apply that same look to different clips. I can't copy the look of that clip because I can't find the timeline that has the adjustment layer on it. If I wanted to search for the adjustment layer among the several versions of the project I have, or even somewhere on the computer, then is there a way to do that efficiently? My lesson here is to somehow export the adjustment layer as a preset and I am open to any feedback about how to organize my assets better.

Here's what happened: I had been trying to apply a cinematic effect to the video and was guided by this clip :How to get the CINEMATIC LOOK in Premiere Pro - YouTube (I hope readers of my question find this useful, as I did).

I created a new adjustment layer, followed some of Christians directions, added them onto a clip and then exported the clip as an .mp4. The client liked the look. I uploaded the clip (with the adjustment layer) into a new sequence. Although I could try to replicate the look on a new clip, I'd like to find the adjustment layer file. I have tried typing "adjustment layer" in the search bar for every project bin I have. Is there a way to search efficiently for an adjustment layer within a project? If I did export an adjustment layer as a preset, what would the file extension be on my iMac hard drive.

Thanks,

Adam

You have to find that sequence. And copy that AL directly from the sequence in a timeline panel.

It is only on that sequence that the adjustment layer will have those effects on it.

Adjustment layers appear in the bin where you invoked them, BUT ... just like a clip in a bin, they don't have any effects applied. To get those effects on an adjustment layer, you have to be in the project it was created in and find that sequence.

You can then copy the adjustment layer into another project.

Thank you, Neil for your reply. This all comes down to better organization habits but I appreciate the tip.

As you said, the adjustment layer in the sequence had the settings I wanted. I was able to copy and paste them from one project to another and saved the settings as a preset. Thanks for your help.

Here's the 2nd draft of my request that I hope is easier to understand:

I am looking for an adjustment layer I created on Adobe Premiere Pro 2018 and need a way to search for that adjustment layer quickly. I have several version of this project each as different premiere project files and each with different dates associated with it. Is there a way to search for it quickly within premiere? What about on my hard drive? So far I have searched project bins and typed in "adjustment layer" and nothing has come up. What's in my way is the time it would take to open every premiere project file and search for the bar as seen blow (the picture it just an example and isn't from my project). What file extension would an adjustment layer have if I exported it.

Here's a video clip that describes the kind of effect I was creating and I hope you find it useful for your own endeavors:
