Question

GPU Acceleration grayed out Premiere Pro CC 11.1.1(15)

Hello,

I appreciate your reading my discussion, and any contributions you make to it in advance. Following my most recent update with Adobe Premiere Pro CC 11.1.1(15) my ability to render video using GPU acceleration has been disabled.  Of course, until this update, I was able to use the feature perfectly.

I have come across solutions to this problem on similar threads, but I have tried them to no avail.  For instance, I tried disabling my intel on-board graphics in device manager.  Next, another thread suggested I rename the file "amdocl64.dll" but despite my success in changing the ownership of the file, Windows 10 will not let me alter the file in any way (move, delete, or rename).  Upon research, the "dll" files all have this untouchable nature on Windows 10.

I am using Windows 10 64-bit (updated this week) with these components:

Intel I5-6600k

8GB of DDR4 Ram

AMD Rx480 video w/ 4GB GDDR5

At first I was having the issue where all my videos (new projects or old) were showing pure white.  I got around then after updating the CC software, but now the GPU acceleration has been permanently disabled.

Looking forward to everyone's thoughts.

Thanks!

Hi MrPink55,

Sorry for your issue and thanks for a detailed description!

I understand that the Video Renderer drop-down is grayed out, is that correct?

We need to verify if Premiere Pro is recognizing the GPU. For that, please follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the directory where Premiere Pro is installed. Be default, it should be C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017
  2. Press and hold the Shift key on the keyboard
  3. Right-click on an empty space in the Explorer window and click "Open command window here"
  4. A command-prompt window should open on your computer
  5. Type gpusniffer and press Enter
  6. Post your result here

For reference, here are the screenshots:

Thanks,

Rameez
